R.I.P. Gil Scott-Heron

The heavily influential poet and musician Gill Scott-Heron died last night at the age of 62.  Born in Chicago in 1949 he began his recording career with the 1970 album Small Talk at 125th & Lennox.  It featured the popular track 'The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" which you can check out below.  Heron has been sampled and featured in many hip hop songs.  Most recently Kanye West featured his poem "Who Will Survive in America" on his latest album.  Releasing music even in 2010 he was and will always continue to contribute to the world.
